The Dorthwell Foundation visited Makoko community on 24th March 2025 in an effort to continue to bring relief and a sustained social connection. Makoko community has limited access to economic and social growth mainly because of lack of road access characterized by their swampy environment. A key part of any child’s skill and knowledge
development is achieved through education. We also believe that an educated community drive innovation that sustains the stability the stability and growth of the next generation.
Our founder having had years of a working relationship with Mr Taiwo Shemede, a member of the Makoko community who started building schools and offering free education and daily meal to kids that show up, reached out to ascertain exactly what the kids needed for more comfortable learning spaces. Although most of these items were distributed, a lot more needs to be done as more kids join the schools requiring more school materials, meals and teachers. Through this , Dorthwell Foundation continues to advance its mission of promoting education in underserved communities.
