On March 24th 2025, Dorthwell Foundation visited two schools in Makoko community in Lagos with an aim to tackle the gap in access to education and school materials. In Africa, over one-fifth children aged 6-11 years are out of school and we are working towards reducing this number. We provided over 550 kids with school bags, exercise
books, stationery and water bottles.
The Makoko community lives in swampy area and this tends to limits their access to major developments especially education. During the visit, we met with Mr. Taiwo Prince Shemede who started these schools in this community.
DORTHWELL FOUNDATION VISIT OUTCOMES:
- • Provided approved school bags to over 100 kids
- • Provided writing books, pens and pencils to over 450 kids.
- • Distribution of water bottles to over 50 kids to ensure hydration at all times.
- • Reviewed the welfare and progress of the students at the school.
- • Spoke with the tutors to have a better understanding of the mental welfare of the
students.
